A display device and a brightness control method are provided to maintain brightness uniformly by compensating the brightness difference depending on time. Driving voltage is applied to a display device of an LCD panel which uses a rear light source of a CCFL(Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp)(S401), and the brightness property data of the CCFL is detected according to the kinds of light sources and driven LCD panels(S402). Based on the brightness property at initial time in the CCFL, the compensating voltage value for the output voltage is controlled(S403). It is judged whether or not the output brightness of the CCFL is maintained(S404), and the output brightness of the CCFL in an LCD panel is kept in a regular value by the voltage control at initial time based on the brightness property of light source(S405). |
