An apparatus and a method for processing an image signal, and a display apparatus are provided to control brightness based on an input signal, thereby reducing power consumption and high quality. An average luminance output unit(102) divides a display screen into a plurality of fractional areas. A correction center setting unit(104) sets a correction center position per the fractional area based on the average luminance. A correction value setting unit(106) sets a correction value according to the display position of the display screen based on the correction center position. A gain control unit(108) controls a gain of the image signal based on the correction value. |
