PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent deformation such as crashing of a tip of a tube without complicating a pressure fitting device and a pressure fitting process, when a sheath tube configuring a sheath heater is pressure-fitted into a metal body in assembling and manufacturing a glow plug. SOLUTION: The tip 22 of the sheath tube 21 configuring a sheath heater assembly 20 is relatively fitted into the metal body 11 from an opening of its rear end 15. A rear end face at a rear end 45 or a region near the rear end, of a shaft 41 for a terminal configuring the sheath heater assembly 20 is supported by a shaft-side supporting means 81, and under this state, the shaft-side supporting means 81 is relatively moved to be pressed forward with respect to the metal body 11, thus the sheath tube 21 is pressure-fitted into the body 11.
