An information processing apparatus(2) included in a parallel computer system(1) has a memory(6) that holds data and a processor(3) including a cache memory(5) that holds a part of the data held on the memory(6) and a processor core(4) that performs arithmetic operations using the data held on the memory(6) or the cache memory(5). Moreover, the information processing apparatus(2) has a communication device(10) that determines whether data received from a different information processing apparatus(2a) is data that the processor core(4) waits for. When the communication device(10) determines that the received data is data that the processor core(4) waits for, the communication device(10) stores the received data on the cache memory(5). When the communication device(10) determines that the received data is data that the processor core(4) does not wait for, the communication device(10) stores the received data on the memory(6).
