The present invention relates to a method and a system for saving power in a remote device. The present invention determines whether application data is offloaded to a cloud server by comparing costs for calculating an application in the cloud server with the costs for calculating the same application in the remote device. In case the costs for calculating the application in the remote device are greater, the remote device offloads the application data to the cloud server. The present invention considers a parameter such as energy required for transmitting the application from the remote device to the cloud server in order to calculate a distance between the remote device and an access network for the power required to calculate the application in the cloud server.
