1,224,977. Graft polymers. ASAHI KASEI KOGYO K.K. 23 April, 1969 [27 April, 1968], No. 20773/69. Heading C3G. Uniform rubbery polymers are produced by polymerizing (A) one or more conjugated diolefin monomers or (B) a monomeric mixture of a conjugated diolefin and a monovinyl-substituted aromatic compound, in a solution of (C) a polymer of conjugated diolefins or (D) a copolymer of conjugated diolefins and monovinylsubstituted aromatic compounds, in an inert solvent in the presence of an alfin catalyst comprising an alkali-metal secondary alkoxide, an alkali metal alkenyl and an alkali metal halide. (A) is preferably 1,3-butadiene, isoprene or piperylene; (B) is preferably 1,3-butadiene and styrene, o-, m- or p-methyl styrene, o-, m- or p-methoxy styrene orα-methyl styrene and (C) or (D) are polybutadiene, polyisoprene or butadiene/styrene copolymer. A rubber composition comprises 100 parts by weight of rubber, of which at least 30% by weight is a rubbery copolymer obtained by polymerizing 100 parts by weight of either 1,3-butadiene or 1,3-butadiene and isoprene or styrene, in an inert solvent containing 25-100 parts by weight of polybutadiene or butadiene/styrene copolymer using an alfin catalyst, 2-100 parts by weight of a process oil and 10-400 parts by weight of a filler.
|
