<p>To provide a functional article comprising a water-absorbing layer having abrasion resistance and water-absorbing functions relating to the dew condensation prevention, the moisture-conditioning function, the anti-fouling function, the anti-fogging function, the anti-icing function, etc., and an article for a transport equipment and an article for building provided with such a functional article. Further, to provide a coating composition capable of forming a water-absorbing coating film having water-absorbing functions relating to the dew condensation prevention, the moisture-conditioning function, the anti-fouling function, the anti-fogging function, the anti-icing function, etc. and having abrasion resistance as well. A functional article comprising a substrate and a water-absorbing layer provide on at least one surface of the substrate, wherein the water-absorbing layer contains porous inorganic fine particles and an inorganic oxide as a binder component, and a coating composition comprising porous inorganic fine particles having an average primary particle size of from 5 to 100 nm and an average pore size of from 1 to 50 nm, a metal alkoxide and/or its partially hydrolyzed condensate, and a solvent.</p> |
