A system and method for processing a scanned image is disclosed. The method comprises the steps of: generating a scanned image from an object; receiving an encryption key generated by a scanning server or a pre-stored security application module; encrypting the scanned image using the encryption key to generate encrypted scan data; and transmitting the encrypted scan data to the scanning server through a client device, wherein the encrypted scan data is decrypted only by the scanning server. According to the present invention, a scanning device for generating a scanned image and the client device can improve the security of the scanned image by not decrypting and storing the scanned image.
