Initiating biogas plant (1) for producing an inoculum concentrate, comprises: (a) generating a filtrate stream from a filtrate; (b) feeding the filtrate into a reactor charged with filling body; (c) generating the inoculum concentrate in the reactor; (d) removing the inoculum concentrate from the reactor; and (e) discharging the filtrate from the reactor. An independent claim is also included for a biogas plant for carrying out the above method, comprising at least one filtrate duct, and reactor equipped with filling bodies, which is connected with the filtrate duct.
