In a motor vehicle friction clutch, wherein a radially disposed, unequal-armed, release lever 1, fulcrumed on a clutch cover 2 by a hinge pin 3, acts on a presser plate 4 via a link 5, and wherein one end of the link is detachably pivotally connected to the short arm 6 of the lever via ribs of the link engaging tangentially disposed bearing depressions in the short arm, a retaining spring 9, hooked into the cover and urging the long arm 8 of the lever towards the cover, has a coiled portion which, for restraint against centrifugal-force-produced outward radial movement, rests against (Fig. 3, not shown) or encircles (Fig. 4, not shown) a tongue of the cover, or, as shown, is accommodated in a recess (17) in the cover. The ribs of the link 5 comprise rib pairs of a cruciform-ribbed nut 7 threaded for 90 degree adjustment steps on the link. To restrain the link against centrifugalforce-produced movement and thereby prevent the ribs from moving out the bearing depressions, a projection 16 is provided on the short arm 6 so as to extend radially inwardly to a position closer to one of the ribs. A triangular section sheet steel spring 10 bears on the short arm 6 to prevent centrifugal-force-produced anticlockwise release lever rotation. The base of the spring 10 bears on the presser plate 4 and has positioning projections (14) engaging presser plate holes. |
