An assembly comprises two panel-like members 1A, 1B arranged in juxtaposed position with side faces of the said members in opposed spaced relation so as to leave a gap 2 therebetween, each side face having a longitudinal channel-shaped recess comprising an inner enlarged portion and a narrow portion of reduced width opening from said enlarged portion, on the said sideface of the member, and. a sealing element extending from said recesses transversely of said gap to seal the same; the sealing element comprising a sheet of resilient metal including a main body portion 5c and reversely bent resilient arms 5b overlying said main body portion and integrally connected thereto by flexible bight portions 5a, each bight portion being located in a said recess and the sealing element being secured by the resilient arms and the underlying portions of said main body portion resiliently abutting opposed walls of the respective recesses. In the assembly shown each recess comprises an inner enlarged portion and a narrow portion of reduced with opening from said enlarged portion on to the said face of the member so that each recess is of pear-like shape in cross-section. Each recess is provided with a metal liner having lips bent to overlap the side faces of the panel-like member. |
