PURPOSE: A data input device and a method thereof are provided to perform data input with simple manipulation by miniaturizing or compacting an input unit into a size corresponding to a fingerprint area. CONSTITUTION: An input unit(100) is placed on a base and includes three pairs of first AB opposite pairs and three pairs of second AB opposite pairs. The input unit includes a opposite pair reference area placing the first AB opposite pairs in left-center-right A-B forms based on a reference point. A sensing unit(200) senses input. A control unit(300) distinguishes and determines the input from an input signal generated in the input unit to extract/process data allocated to the input signal.
