The present invention addresses the problem of inhibiting the occurrence of band-striping and improving printing quality in printing that uses a print head composed of a plurality of head units. As a solution, a print head (2) is moved in a primary scan direction (X) and the print head (2) is moved in relative fashion in a secondary scan direction (Y) with respect to a print medium (11) to carry out printing in each scan. The print head (2) is formed of head units (HU21) joined together, having nozzle columns composed a plurality of nozzles in a column along the secondary scan direction (Y). A non-discharge area (203) in which ink droplets are not discharged is provided only between two adjacent head units (HU21). The length of the non-discharge region in the secondary scan direction (Y) of the non-discharge region (203) is greater than the adjacent nozzle distance between two adjacent nozzles. |
