Method and apparatus for searching for program listings using a media guidance application implemented at least partially on control circuitry configured for receiving, with the media guidance application, a user selection of a program. In response to receiving the user selection of the program, using the media guidance application, at least one attribute specifically related to the selected program is determined. Also using the media guidance application, a list of programs based on the at least one attribute are identified and the identified list of programs is displayed.
