An improved powered hinge with an automatic locking feature close to the ends of permissible relative angular displacement, comprising a stationary member with a first slot extending between opposite ends; a movable member, having a second slot extending between opposite ends and rotating about the stationary member's pivotal axis; at least one driving member having a third slot extending between opposite ends and rotating about the stationary member's pivotal axis from one angular position to another; and a pin passing through the three slots, constrained for movement substantially parallel to the pivotal axis. In this device, the slots are configured such that when the driving member rotates from one angular position to another, the pin is moved from one end of each of the slots to the other end of each of the slots, and the movable member is rotated about the pivotal axis relative to the stationary member. |
