PURPOSE: A gas exchange facility for a LNG(Liquefied Natural Gas) tank and a gas exchange method thereof are provided to smoothly discharge nitrogen gas pressed by exchange gas with a piston effect since the exchange gas is supplied at the top of an external tank. CONSTITUTION: A gas exchange facility for a LNG tank comprises a exchange gas supplying pipe(40), external tank gas discharge pipes(50,60), an internal tank gas discharge pipe(70), a first valve(41), a second valve(51), a third valve(61), and a fourth valve(71). The exchange gas supplying pipe is installed while penetrating an external tank(10) of a LNG tank The external tank gas discharge pipes connect the lower part of the external tank and atmosphere. The first valve is installed in the exchange gas supplying pipe. The second and third valves are installed in the external tank gas discharge pipes, respectively.
