<p>15 Process and Apparatus for the Electrolytic Reduction of Sulfur DyesAbstract The present invention concerns a process for the electrolyticreduction of sulfur dyes, comprising the steps of providing an aqueouscatholyte comprising at least one sulfur dye, providing an electrolyticcell with an anode disposed in an anolyte in an anolyte compartment, acathode disposed in a catholyte in a catholyte compartment and anelectrochemical separator between anolyte compartment and catholytecompartment and applying a potential between the anode and the cathodewhich is above the value at which hydrogen is generated, characterized inthat the catholyte does not comprise any inorganic or organic reductionagents.
