The invention relates to a battery (10), more particularly for a motor vehicle, comprising a plurality of battery cells (12, 14), wherein each of the battery cells (12, 14) has in a head region (16) a first electrical contact element having a first polarity and a second electrical contact element (22) having a second polarity. At least two of the battery cells (12, 14) are electrically connected in parallel by means of a connecting element (24, 26) assigned to the contact elements (20, 22) of the same polarity. In the battery, the head regions (16) of the at least two battery cells (12, 14) which are electrically connected in parallel face one another. In this case, the contact elements (20, 22) of the same polarity of the at least two battery cells (12, 14) which are electrically connected in parallel are cohesively connected to the connecting element (24, 26), more particularly by means of an electrically conductive adhesive (25).
