摘要 A surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) element (3) is provided with: a substrate (4); a micro structure (7) that is formed on the surface (4a) of the substrate (4), and has a plurality of pillars (11); and a conductor layer (6) that is formed on the micro structure (7), and constitutes an optical function section (10) that causes surface-enhanced Raman scattering. The conductor layer (6) has a base formed in such a manner as to extend along the surface (4a) of the substrate (4), and a plurality of protrusions, each of which protrudes from the base at a position corresponding to each pillar (11). A plurality of gaps (G), having an interval that gradually decreases in the direction perpendicular to the direction in which the pillars (11) protrude, is formed on the conductor layer (6) by the base and protrusions.
