The extendable ladder (1) has an end section, which faces the floor while using the ladder, and has an extendable step (3a,3b,6), which is transferred between two positions. The extendable step is spaced from the floor in the former position. The extendable step is transferred between the two positions in a pneumatic-, electric-, hydraulic-, mechanical- or manual manner. One or two gas springs are provided for transferring the step between the two positions. The step has a flat tread area, which is provided with a non-slip coating. An independent claim is included for a vehicle with a vehicle door.
