PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery capable of obtaining large battery capacity and high output while suppressing Li precipitation on a negative electrode in high potential formation, and a method for manufacturing the nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery.SOLUTION: In a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery including a positive electrode, a negative electrode and a nonaqueous electrolyte, the positive electrode includes a positive electrode active material that contains a lithium transition metal composite oxide having an α-NaFeOtype crystal structure, and represented by the composition formula of LiMeO(where Me represents a transition metal element including Co, Ni and Mn, and α>0 is satisfied), and the negative electrode includes a negative electrode active material that contains a carbon material comprising a mixture of graphite and amorphous carbon while the ratio of the amorphous carbon included in the carbon material is 5-60 mass%. A method for manufacturing the nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery includes a charging step where a potential change appearing relative to a charged electric amount in a positive electrode potential range from exceeding 4.3 V(vs.Li/Li) to 4.8 V(vs.Li/Li) or less reaches at least a relatively flat region. |
