PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for manufacturing a slotted rod for an optical cable, which prevents slippage in a direction against rotation of a tension member and achieving a specified groove angle.SOLUTION: A method of manufacturing a slotted rod for optical cables is provided, which involves extrusion molding a slot with grooves around a tension member 3 having a resin cover layer extrusion-formed therearound. The tension member 3 with the resin cover layer having a non-circular cross-sectional shape is held unrotatably against holding surfaces 33 of holding rollers 32 and fed to a grooved slot extrusion molder.
