PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a difference in level in signals, in an image reading device including a linear CCD image sensor that outputs image signals of a respective plurality of areas of a divided area, the areas being arranged in a row in a predetermined direction, from separate output terminals corresponding to the respective areas, the difference in level in signals in the respective areas read by the linear CCD image sensor with an inexpensive and simple configuration.SOLUTION: Right and left linearity characteristics of a linear CCD image sensor employing a right and left division read-out method are created by reading a reference white board while gradually reducing the light intensity of a light source; the created linearity characteristics are matched with ideal linearity characteristics, or γ-correction data is created so that one linearity characteristics are matched with the other linearity characteristics; and thereby a read image of a document is corrected on the basis of the created γ-correction data. |
