Disclosed is a method for managing a client in an OTT system, comprising: receiving a playback request message sent by the client, recording request time of the playback request message, and reporting charging start information to a content and service management system; according to the playback request message, delivering corresponding playback content, and according to a preset playback request time limit value, determining whether the playback request of the client for the playback content times out; if the playback request of the client for the playback content times out, reporting charging end information to the content and service management system. Further disclosed is a network server. By means of the disclosed solution, the problem that an existing network server is unable to sense the status of a client is solved, and statistics and management of the client are effectively implemented. |
