Disclosed is a data backup and recovery method for a mobile terminal. The method comprises: a mobile terminal sending a digital certificate application request to an authentication server, and receiving and storing a digital certificate issued by the authentication server; the mobile terminal initiating a data backup/recovery operation request, and sending an identity authentication request to the authentication server according to the stored digital certificate; and the mobile terminal judging whether to execute the data backup/recovery operation according to an identity authentication result returned by the authentication server.Also disclosed at the same time is a data backup and recovery system for a mobile terminal.The method and system of the present invention can be applied to enable digital authentication technology to be combined with the data backup and recovery of a mobile terminal, thereby improving the data backup and recovery security of the mobile terminal.
