PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve packet buffering for suppressing power consumption in a power saving mode of a system without dropping a packet.SOLUTION: A buffer which inputs, holds and outputs a packet is disposed in a VI(Voltage Island) area to which a power is always supplied in a system, and a memory which operates only when a power is stably supplied, and input, holds and outputs the packet is disposed in a main area whose power supply is shut down in the power saving mode of the system. A selector which inputs the packets to be output by the buffer and the memory, and selects and outputs one of those packets is disposed in the VI area. A buffer controller which controls the buffer, the memory and the selector is disposed in the VI area such that when the main area is restored from the power saving mode to a regular operation mode following power supply, the buffer inputs and holds the packet until the memory operates in accordance with the stable supply of a power, and that the memory inputs and holds the packet since the memory operates in accordance with the stably supply of the power. |
