PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device which prevents a reduction in a voltage holding ratio (VHR) and an increase in ion density (ID) of a liquid crystal layer and solves display troubles, such as white spots, alignment irregularity, and image burn-in, by using color filter made from a specific liquid crystal composition and specific dyes and/or pigments.SOLUTION: A liquid crystal display device includes: a first substrate 1; a second substrate 1; a liquid crystal composition layer 5a sandwiched between the first and second substrates; a color filter 2a comprising a black matrix and at least RGB tri-color pixel units; pixel electrodes 3b; and common electrodes 3a. A liquid crystal composition comprises: a liquid crystal compound having a dielectric constant anisotropy of 2 or more and containing, by more than 90 mol.%, one or more compounds selected from a specific group of compounds. The RGB tri-color pixel units contain specific dyes and pigments as color materials. |
