A method, BS and UE for random access are disclosed. The method comprises: the BS receiving the preamble sequence sent by the UE when the UE is random accessing; according to the preamble sequence, identifying the type of the UE; according to the type of the UE, sending the messages of the process of random access to the UE on the disposal bandwidth supported by the UE. The embodiments of the present invention can differentiate the MTC UE from the normal UE during the process of random access, reduce the effect to the normal UE during the process of random access by the MTC UE, avoid the collision when the MTC UE and the normal UE send the preamble sequence on the same time frequency resource block, reduce the competition between the MTC UE and the normal UE during the process of random access, and improve the random access quality of the normal UE.
