The medical device (1) has a tubular inner space (2) for receiving an examination object (6), an upper surface of the tubular facing the examination object and a unit for illuminating the tubular inner space, where the unit has an illuminating element (4). The upper surface of the tubular inner space is formed as light guide. The light radiated from the illuminating element is partially coupled into the light guide. The illuminating element is formed as light-emitting diode-strip.
