A washing machine comprises: a drum which is allowed to rotate; a motor for rotating the drum; a drying unit which supplies hot-air to the inside of the drum by in-taking and heating the air inside of the drum; a driving unit which drives the motor; and a controlling unit which rotates the drum while supplying the hot-air to the inside of the drum during a drying operation. The controlling unit is set the drum to repeat rotating and stopping if the weight of the laundry contained in the drum is greater than a standard weight set in advance, and the washing machine that keeps rotating the drum can perform the optimistic drying operation if the weight of the laundry is less than the standard weight.
