The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for encoding/decoding high-definition video. The present invention provides an image encoding method characterized by predicting a current block to generate a prediction block, subtracting the prediction block from the current block to generate a residual block, determining types of transform and quantization depending on the block type of the current block, transforming and quantizing the residual block according to the determined types of transform and quantization, and encoding the transformed and quantized residual block. According to the present invention, the encoding can be performed using high correlation of temporally/spatially neighboring pixels shown on an image, thereby improving the encoding efficiency. Further, the block distortion can be reduced, thereby improving the compression efficiency. Further, the number of times the filtering is performed can be decreased, thereby reducing the degree of complexity of the apparatus for encoding/decoding an image.
