PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide improved analogues of glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) which are stable in formulation and have long plasma half-life in vivo resulting from decreased susceptibility to proteolysis and decreased clearance while maintaining binding affinity to a GIP receptor to elicit respective agonistic or antagonistic effects.SOLUTION: The present invention includes: a novel series of GIP analogues with the specific amino acid sequences; pharmaceutical compositions containing the compounds; and the use of the compounds as GIP-receptor agonists or antagonists for treatment of GIP-receptor mediated conditions, such as non-insulin dependent diabetes mellitus and obesity.
