The present invention relates to an IP camera used when a network based surveillance system is constructed and more specifically, to an IP camera which comprises: an image processing unit for acquiring digital image data taken with an image sensor in the inside of the IP camera; an encoder of a control unit which compresses and converts the acquired digital image data through the image processing unit according to H.264 standard; and a transfer unit which transfers the encoded image data through the encoder to a designated main IP camera according to a communication protocol.
