A light receiving/emitting element (11) is provided with: a light receiving/emitting layer (21) formed by laminating a plurality of compound semiconductor layers; and an electrode (30) formed of a transparent conductive material, said electrode having a first surface (30A) and a second surface (30B) facing the first surface (30A), and having the first surface (30A) in contact with the light receiving/emitting layer (21). The transparent conductive material contains an additive composed of at least one kind of metal or a compound thereof, said metal being selected from the group consisting of molybdenum, tungsten, chromium, ruthenium, titanium, nickel, zinc, iron, and copper, and the concentration of the additive contained in the transparent conductive material close to the interface to the first surface (30A) of the electrode (30) is higher than the concentration of the additive contained in the transparent conductive material close to the second surface (30B) of the electrode (30). |
