<p>A sound-damping device (1) for an upright piano, wherein a shock-absorbing member (112) is positioned between the hammers (250) and the strings (5) when the hammers (250) strikes the strings (5) in a muted playing mode, and the shock-absorbing member is not positioned between the hammers (250) and the strings (5) when the hammers (250) strike the strings (5) in a normal playing mode. A belt-shaped member (121) is positioned so as to extend between regulating buttons (230) and jacks (220) of multiple action mechanisms (2) in the muted playing mode, and the belt-shaped member is not positioned between the regulating buttons (230) and the jacks (220) in the normal playing mode. In addition, the belt-shaped member (121) is linked by means of linking members to a muffler rail (111) supporting the shock-absorbing member (112), and thus is capable of moving in conjunction with the shock-absorbing member (112).</p> |
