The device (15) has a detection unit detecting a current position of a support plate (16) with respect to multiple steps of stair, where the detection unit comprises a non-contact sensor. The detection unit provides signals to an electric control unit (210), where the signals contain information about the current position of the plate with respect to the steps of the stair. The control unit is adapted to control operation of a climbing unit depending on signals of the detection unit. The control unit controls operational speed of the climbing unit depending on signals of the detection unit. |
