A housing has two halves each comprising a cover with a shaft opening, and a plate secured to the cover and housing an opening for a shaft bearing. In Fig. 2 the housing is that of a gearbox. Each cover member 10 has projecting buttons 38 abutting the plate 11 and has projecting dowels (41), Fig. 3 (not shown), entering locating holes (37) in the plate, to axially and angularly locate the plate. The cover has two openings 18, (19) and a recess 20 aligned with respective openings 16, (17), 17 in the plate and having arcuate projections 45, 46 abutting the races of the bearings 22, 29, (34). The cover openings have seals 49, (50) or if unused, a cap. The covers have flanges 14 with registering dowels 43 and holes 42 to align the housing halves. The housing is filled with lubricant via openings 55 which are then closed by plugs 57, 58.</p> |
