[Also in Division F2] A hinge half 1 or 1a is secured to a support 6 by substantially cylindrical dowels 3 integral with the hinge. Each dowel has an axial slot 8 at one end, and a wedge 5 is lightly attached to the slotted end of the dowel in alignment with the slot, so that when the dowel is inserted into a bore 7 and pressure applied to the end of the wedge remote from the dowel, the wedge is driven into the slot 8 to expand the dowel into gripping engagement with the bore. The pressure on the wedge may be applied by the base of the bore (Fig. 3) or, in the case of a through bore, by a tool. The dowel is ribbed adjacent the slot 8, and the unslotted portion is conical, or of slightly elliptical cross-section, to limit penetration of the dowel into the bore. The hinge halves are moulded of glass-fibre reinforced plastics, and may be formed (Figs. 9, 10) with resiliently interengageable abutments 21, 22 and recesses 20, 23 to act as snap-locks or latches to hold closed a door supported by the hinges. In Fig. 9, two hinges have a common hinge pin 17.
