1,256,163. Treating yarn with gases. DEERING MILLIKEN RESEARCH CORP. 26 Sept., 1969 [16 Oct., 1968], No. 47490/69. Heading D1L. A heated gas, e.g. air, is continuously passed across the passageway 19 between a hollow, rotatable drum 22 having a perforated outer surface 18 and a coaxial annular gas manifold 14 having a perforated inner surface 16 during the passage of a yarn (57, Fig. 1 not shown), in a plurality of wraps about said drum through said passageway, the gas being re-circulated from the interior of the drum through the conduit formed between end walls 44 and 45 to the manifold 14 by means of a fan 50. Electrical heating coils 60 and 61 located in the conduit heat the gas which in turn pre-heats pressurized gas which is passed through a supply tube 41 mounted in a plurality of loops in the manifold 14 to a yarn inlet 26 to thereby propel the yarn through the tube 40 into the passageway 19.
|
