An aircraft electrical apparatus comprises an engine starter motor control unit 1 (ESMCU) configured to provide an AC input voltage to a transformer rectifier unit 2. Preferably, the apparatus comprises a transformer rectifier unit 2 for supplying power to an aircraft DC supply bus 4, wherein the engine starter motor control unit 1 provides the AC input voltage to the transformer rectifier unit 2. There may be a battery 3 provided for supplying power to the DC supply bus when the engine is being started. A DC voltage monitoring means may be provided for measuring the output voltage from the transformer rectifier unit. The ESMCU may be configured to adjust the AC input voltage provided to the transformer rectifier unit in response to the output voltage from the transformer rectifier unit measured by the DC monitoring means. |
