The invention relates to a transparent fire resistant glazing unit comprising two glass sheets and, between these sheets, an intumescent hydrated alkali-metal-silicate based compound which has an SiO2/(Na2O+K2O) molar ratio of >3, a water content of between 23 and 27 wt%, and a glycerine weight content of between 20 and 25%, this composition being produced using colloidal silica and corresponding alkali-metal hydroxides, to which solution the glycerine, and optionally other additives representing no more than 5 wt% of the layer, are added. |
