The present invention relates to a separator for an electrochemical element and an electrochemical element comprising the same and more specifically, to a separator for an electrochemical element comprising a first porous base of single axis elongation; and a second porous base of single axis elongation which is disposed to at least one surface of the first porous base, wherein the second porous base is disposed so that the orientation elongation direction of the second porous base and the elongation direction of the first porous base can be crossed each other, and to an electrochemical element comprising the same. The present invention comprises porous bases of only single axis elongation rather than porous bases of double axis elongation, thereby maintaining the straightness of a pore structure in the porous base to improve cell output, prevents a separator from being split by comprising two or more porous bases disposed to be crossed in the elongation direction and improves the mechanical properties of the separator.
