The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical compound, a cosmetic compound, and a functional food composition containing the extract of rhizome of Smilax china L. as an active ingredient and effective in allergic diseases and more specifically, to a pharmaceutical compound, a cosmetic compound, and a functional food composition effective in allergic diseases including atopic dermatitis, the incidence thereof is increasing worldwide, by containing the extract of rhizome of Smilax china L. dissolved in a polar solvent. According to the present invention, the pharmaceutical compound, the cosmetic compound, and the functional food composition containing only the extract of rhizome of Smilax china L. as an active ingredient are provided, thereby having no side effect, tolerance, and toxicity in long-term administration and reducing the occurrence of the allergic inflammation and chronic inflammation through decreasing the serum levels of IgE, Th2 and Th1 cytokines, which play an important role in the occurrence of immune diseases, suppressing the secretion of histamine in mast cells and inflammation-inducing active substances, inhibiting immune hypersensitivity reaction mediated by the histamine and inflammation-inducing active substances, and reducing the dermatitis index, the infiltration and activation of the mast cells in skin tissue, and activation. |
