An apparatus for connecting tubulars in a wellbore includes a first tubular 100 for connecting with a second tubular where the first tubular includes an expandable portion 104 for positioning in the second tubular to form a sealed joint on expansion. The expandable portion 104 includes a number of reinforcing annular members 106 which provide resistance to radial load such that on expansion the reinforced regions 106 have higher resistance to expansion than non-reinforced regions. The resistance of each annular member 106 may be arranged in a sequence with each subsequent annular member 106 having a progressively increased resistance so that the expandable portion 104 starts expanding at a weakest region and continues to expand towards a strongest region. |
