Unalloyed palladium and palladium-gold alloy catalyst composition

A catalyst composition comprising mixed metal catalyst comprising unalloyed palladium and palladium-gold alloy, with at least a promoter comprising at least one reducible metal oxide, such as an oxide of manganese, iron, tin, copper, cobalt, titanium or cerium, disposed on a support, such as alumina, magnesia, silica-alumina, zirconia, a zeolite or mixture of the metal oxides. The promoter can also be the support. The catalyst composition optionally comprises platinum on a separate support. Also disclosed is use of the catalyst composition in reducing light-off temperature for converting carbon monoxide and/or hydrocarbons; a catalytic convertor comprising the catalyst composition and use of the catalyst in a vehicle engine.
