PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steering device with a simple structure which can solve the problem of unusual sound while employing the same configuration as a rack pressing mechanism of background arts. SOLUTION: The steering device 20 is of a rack pinion type. In a rack pressing member 3 urging a rack 13 to a pinion 12 side so that the rack 13 meshes with the pinion 12, a dilatant member 1 taking dilatant fluid as a part of or the whole of material thereof is employed as a member for receiving force from the rack.
