PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device which is shortened in startup time, saves space, and is configured to effectively heat a pressure roller without damage. SOLUTION: The fixing device 23, including a first rotary body (fixing roller) 231 having a heat generating layer 231a for generating heat with magnetic flux, a magnetic flux generating portion 233 disposed outside the first rotary body 231 and generating the magnetic flux, and a second rotary body (pressure roller) 232 pressed against the first rotary body 231 to be rotated, has a sheet type external heating member 234 in a recessed shape disposed outside the second rotary body along a surface of the second rotary body 232, the external heating member 234 generating heat in the recessed shape along the second rotary body 232. Consequently, the surface of the second rotary body is efficiently heated by the external heating member 234 to keep the second rotary body at constant temperature during a standby mode and to shorten a recovery time from the standby mode.
