1,254,605. Extrusion moulding machines. BADISCHE ANILIN- & SODA-FABRIK A.G. 2 April, 1969 [3 April, 1968], No. 17178/69. Heading B5A. A valve 7 for the injection of liquid additives into the barrel of an extrusion moulding machine is directly attached to barrel lining 1, e.g. by welding, soldering or screwing and is situated between flanges 4 and 5 of barrel sections 2, 3. Barrel liner 1 is not divided across the axis of the barrel between the flanges and the flanges do not contact the casing 6 of the valve. With this arrangement pressure and temperature fluctuations within the barrel do not affect the sealing of the valve to the liner and consequently leakage is prevented; however, the connection between the valve and liner can easily be undone when the latter requires replacement. Valve 7 comprises an inlet 13, a valve spindle 14 rotated by hand-wheel 15, or by a motor, and a stuffing box 16. In a modification Fig. 2 (not shown), an adaptor (17) is situated between flanges 4, 5 which does not contact valve casing 6 and is divided in at least one plane parallel to the axis of the barrel.
|
