Compounds of formula wherein R1 is an aliphatic, cycloaliphatic, araliphatic or aromatic radical, and R2 is an amino group or SR1, are prepared by reacting R1SC( :NH)NHC( :NH)R2 (II) with R4OCH:NR3 (III) or [R4OCH :NR3R5]+X- (IV) wherein R3 is H or R1, R4 is an aliphatic radical, R5 is H or an aliphatic radical and X is an acid radical. II may be formed in situ from an alkylating agent with a mono-S-substituted or S-unsubstituted dithioburet or unsubstituted guanidinothiourea. III or IV may be formed in situ from an alkylating agent with N-monoalkyl, N- dialkyl or unsubstituted formamide, or from an alkanol with a formamide chloride. Examples describe the preparation of 2,4-bis(methylmercapto)- and 2 - amino - 4 - methylmercaptos-triazines.
