<p>A paper shredding apparatus (2,fig.4) has a casing (20,fig.4) an input tray 24, a shredding entrance 27, an upper cover 21, a pressing member 251 on the underside of the upper cover 21, a thickness detecting device 26, on the underside of the upper cover 21. The thickness detecting device 26 is triggered by the pressing member 251, to generate a warning signal, and possibly also cut power to a driving motor (31,fig.6), in the case that too great a thickness of paper is placed under the upper cover 21. The detecting device 26 may be such as a microswitch or light sensor. The warning signal may be delivered by a flashing light, sound, or text display.</p> |
